“When You Thought I Was Not Looking”
As Parents, we often become so absorbed in day-to-day
activities that we forget little eyes are watching and little ears are
listening. I offer this writing as an
encouragement that the simple, often mundane activities of life can influence a
young life forever. Take time for the
small things!
When you
thought I wasn’t looking, you held moms hand as you prayed over the supper
meal, and I knew love was in the home.
When you
thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come to your eyes, and I learn that
sometimes things hurts, but that it is ok for men to cry.
When you
thought I wasn’t looking you fixed my bike and picked up out of the road, and I
learn I should be responsible.
When you
thought I wasn’t looking you peeped in the door at night to see if I was
alright, and I knew daddy cared.
When you
thought I wasn’t looking, I looked! I
want to say thanks for all those things you did when you thought I wasn’t
looking.
Dedicated to
my Dad Buster McCulley and Debra’s late Dad Jimmy Carrick
